Israel, known as the home of Falafels, beaches and water technology may also add electric cars to the list as the Mediterranean nation is about to launch an electric grid next year.
(Freep.com) The developers of a new electric vehicle say Israel is on schedule to inaugurate a revolutionary electric car grid by next year, with dozens of recharging stations and thousands of cars on the road.
The California-based company Better Place hopes Israel’s model will lead a shift toward electric transportation worldwide. The company says 70 to 100 recharge stations will open by 2011.
According to Freep, Project Better Place‘s cars will be able to travel almost 100 miles before needing a recharge!
While that stat alone is amazing, electric cars only make sense if their are recharge stations across the country to help power these vehicles while they commute (just like there are gas stations to help keep regular cars fueled for the road).
Note: Here is a video highlighting Project Better Place’s long term goals which include installing electric charging ports in Denmark and Australia.
